CARE:

Sunlight & Placement

• Light: Give them full direct sun, or light afternoon shade (using a 30%–50% shade cloth) during peak Coachella Valley summer months when temperatures cross 100°F. 
• Extreme Heat: Growth can slow or stall when temperatures exceed 100°F to 105°F.
• Winter Protection: Bring potted Adeniums indoors or move them under a covered patio/frost cloth during winter cold snaps, as they are damaged or killed if temperatures drop near or below 50°F. 

Soil & Potting

• Soil Mix: Use a fast-draining cactus or succulent mix heavily amended with 1 to 2 parts pumice, perlite, or coarse sand. 
• Pots: Plant in terra-cotta or porous ceramic pots with drainage holes so roots can dry out quickly. 

Watering

• Spring & Summer (Active Growth): Water thoroughly when the soil dries out completely (every few days to weekly depending on the triple-digit heat). 
• Fall & Winter (Dormancy): Cut back watering drastically. Keep them nearly or completely dry if temperatures drop below 50°F to prevent fatal root rot. 

Fertilizing & Pruning

• Fertilizer: Feed monthly or every 3–4 weeks during the spring and summer active growth phase using a balanced fertilizer or low-nitrogen bloom booster with micronutrients. Stop feeding in fall and winter.
• Pruning: Prune back leggy stems or shape the caudex in early summer or spring using sterilized tools.

Plumeria, also known as frangipani, is a genus of flowering plants in the subfamily Rauvolfioideae, of the family Apocynaceae. Most species are deciduous shrubs or small trees. The species are native to the Neotropical realm (in Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean, and as far south as Braziland as far north as Florida in the United States), but are often grown as cosmopolitanornamentals in tropical regions, especially in Hawaii, as well as hot desert climates.
